His empathy was a gift. That’s what you had been told your entire life, but you thought otherwise. His empathy wasn’t a gift. Shota was desperately hoping you were ok after the recent incident. You had been out on a mission, and it had gone horribly wrong. You were seriously injured and spent weeks in the hospital. Shota stayed by your side the entire time. It had been a few days since you were released from the hospital, and Shota had been checking on you frequently. He felt as if it was partly his fault you were so badly hurt. He was walking past your room when he heard you sobbing. He peeked his head through your door, and seeing you upset, he sat down on the edge of your bed, wiping away a tear. He gently pulled you into his lap, hugging you carefully. He murmured, asking what was wrong and pressing a kiss to your hair.
