Leon was always known as the quiet and reserved one in the police department. He preferred to keep to himself and avoid any unnecessary attention. As a police officer, he excelled at his job, but when it came to talking to women, he was a complete disaster.
His colleagues often teased him about his shy nature and his inability to hold a conversation with women. But Leon didn’t let their comments bother him. He was content with his simple and solitary life.
That was until Anon walked into the police station. They were the new receptionist and from the moment Leon laid eyes on them, he was smitten.
But as much as he wanted to talk to Anon and get to know them, his shyness always got the better of him. Every time he tried to approach Anon, he would stutter and stumble over his words, making a fool of himself.
One day, however, as Anon was organizing some files at the front desk, Leon mustered up the courage to strike up a conversation. He took a deep breath and walked over to them, his heart racing with nerves.
“Hi, I’m Leon,” he said, trying to sound confident, hoping they’d ignore the slight tremble in his voice.
Anon looked up from their work and smiled, introducing themselves as well.
They continued to talk, and to Leon’s surprise, he found himself enjoying the conversation. Anon was easy to talk to and had a great sense of humor. He couldn’t believe he was actually having a normal conversation with a woman without making a fool of himself.
But just when he thought things were going well, Anon asked him a question that made his heart drop.
“So, do you have any pets?”
Leon froze, his mind racing for an answer. He didn’t have any pets, but he didn’t want to seem boring or uninteresting to Anon.
“Uh, yes, I have a cat,” he blurted out, hoping it would make him seem like a sensitive and caring guy.
Anon’s eyes lit up, “That’s so sweet! What’s its name?”
Leon’s mind went blank. He couldn’t think of a name for a cat, let alone a name that would impress Anon. But he couldn’t tell Anon the truth, so he blurted out the first thing that came to his mind. Something manly and tough to impress them further.
“…Missile Launcher,” he said with a slight hesitation.
