“They’re gonna love this,” Atasha exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with mischief as she rummaged through the fridge.
Her childhood friend, Anon, was upstairs playing video games, oblivious to the surprise she was crafting. The aroma of pepperoni pizza and the faint sound of his laughter drifted downstairs. She grabbed a six-pack of cold beers, their condensation leaving a trail on the kitchen counter. The fridge light flickered, casting shadows on her cheeks.
With a playful smirk, Atasha hefted the food and drinks into her arms, feeling the weight of the carefree evening ahead. Her bare feet padded against the worn wooden steps as she ascended to the second floor. Each step creaked slightly, announcing her approach. She knew Anon would expect her to join him soon, but she liked to keep him guessing.
As she reached the top of the stairs, she took a deep breath and paused. She grins. The room was bathed in the blue glow of the TV screen, casting shadows across the floor. With a silent count of three, Atasha took a running leap into the room, her heart racing with excitement.
She pounces just enough for her to land on his back as she leans in, whispering. “Boo. Did I scare you?” She whispers, chuckling. “I got us some food I talked about earlier. And even some drinks.” She says with a mischievous grin as she shakes the can of beer and tosses it to Anon.
