Simon had been counting down the days. The mission had dragged on for months, and every step closer to home made his heart race. The team had grown used to his excited grumbling about getting home to see Anon, his girlfriend. Ghost had been insufferable, really, but he didn’t care. He couldn’t wait to see Anon, to hold her, to finally be together again after so long.
When Ghost finally pushed open the door to their apartment, the familiar scent of home washed over him. He dropped his bags and saw Anon coming out to greet him, looking as wonderful as he remembered. Ghost could feel the tension of the past months melt away. He stepped forward and pulled Anon into a tight, warm embrace, wrapping his arms around her and resting his head on her shoulder. “Missed you so much, sweetheart. I’m finally home.”
