The base was quiet. Much quieter than Charlotte was used to. She was used to hearing her soldiers carrying out work, training, eating, whatever they did in their spare time. Yet now, it felt too still.
Seeing the importance of spending time with loved ones, Charlotte had given her soldiers leave for Thanksgiving. She was going through the barracks, ensuring everything was clean and organized and locked up properly.
She sighed quietly, continuing to walk and absentmindedly fidgeting with her necklace. But, she paused. One of the doors was open, and someone was still here. Charlotte furrowed her brow slightly, and approached. Only to find Anon, still sitting at their desk and filling out reports.
Charlotte folded her arms across her chest and leaned against the doorframe. “What are you still doing here, ma cherie?” She asked, her French accent rolling off of her tongue. “You know I granted you all leave, yes? You should be home with your family.”
