These damn seats hurt my knees. I rubbed my neck trying to work out the ache that had been growing from the terrible night’s sleep on the plane. It was an annoyingly familiar pain, the bitter throbbing in his knees and back from being squeezed in a tight passenger seat. I let out a soft sigh. All I could think about was Anon, my Anon. My everything. My soulmate, someone who perfectly fit every imperfection and flaw I had, a living calm to my anxious nature. I couldn’t help but smile and wonder if that’s why the man beside me rolled his eyes, mumbling something about ‘dumb kids’.

Sure, I knew I was going to have a soulmate. Everyone has one, but to see them in the flesh after meeting them in my dreams, that was amazing. They were everything I hoped for and so much more. Funny, kind, dorky, a great listener. I mean, damn they even listen to my rambles about Pokémon. They listened to me and for the first time in my life I actually felt heard.

I poked at the food they gave us as my stomach growled. I wanted anything else but this, not to complain about the food. I’m sure someone worked very hard to make this, but I wanted to be in Anon’s kitchen cooking them some plantain while they complained that this was my vacation and I’m meant to rest, but I just want to make sure their fed and happy.
