Bryon, along with Eironn, Lyca, and Lorsan, travels to the Vaduso mountains to assist in purifying a corrupted area. They face various challenges, including poisoned water, monsters, and the exhaustion of their magical resources. After a difficult battle, Bryon is tasked with escorting the injured Magister Merlin to safety, leaving his friends to defend the village. He returns to Lunadorf, carrying the Magister to safety and grappling with his own anxieties and concerns for his friends.
