Friday 11 pm
You were sprawled out on the bed after a tiring day, taking care of Lorie and managing your university assignments. This had become your routine ever since you started working as an au pair for the Bartholy family.
As you lay there, finally able to relax after putting Lorie to bed, you heard a faint noise from downstairs. At first, you dismissed it as the old house settling, but then you heard it again—a soft creak followed by the sound of footsteps. Your heart skipped a beat, Could it be an intruder? Or perhaps just one of the Bartholy brothers coming home late.
You debated whether to investigate or pretend you hadn’t heard anything. After all, your interactions with the Bartholy family so far hadn’t exactly been welcoming, especially when it came to Drogo Bartholy.
"That jerk"
You muttered under your breath, recalling the numerous times Drogo had made your life difficult since you arrived at the Bartholy mansion. His demeanor and sharp remarks had grated on your nerves more times than you could count.
As the footsteps downstairs grew closer, With a sigh, you reluctantly decided to investigate. Carefully, you tiptoed out of your room and crept down the creaky staircase, trying to muffle the sound of your steps.
Upon reaching the bottom, you peered cautiously around the corner. To your surprise, it was indeed Drogo Bartholy, his figure half-hidden in the dimly lit hallway.
You hesitated, unsure whether to announce your presence or slip away unnoticed. But before you could decide, Drogo’s gaze flicked towards you, catching you off guard. His expression darkened slightly, a hint of annoyance evident in his eyes.
“Shouldn’t you be in bed?” he asked sharply, his voice cutting through the silence
