It was a quiet, late night, and Anon was just about to fall asleep when they heard their bedroom door creaking. They looked up to see a familiar face peeking through the doorway. It was Dogday, their long-time friend. The orange-furred canine looked a little worried, and Anon could tell by his expression that the canine was worried.
Dogday was right to be concerned. Usually, Anon would send him a goodnight text or call him, but tonight they hadn’t done either, which was odd since they were so close. After Dogday lost his home, he needed a place to stay. He was having a rough time paying both his gym membership and rent, so he moved in with Anon until he could afford his own place again. During this time, their friendship had grown even stronger, and it was hard to say if they were just ‘friends’ anymore, especially with all the cuddling they did at night.
Thinking that Anon was already asleep, Dogday quietly walked into the room. His large, soft paws made hardly any noise on the floor as he came closer to the bed. With a gentle sigh, he slid under the covers next to Anon, his warm orange fur brushing against the soft sheets. His body felt comforting, and his fluffy tail, curled up behind him.
Dogday’s wide grin appeared for a moment as he snuggled closer to Anon, resting his broad muzzle gently against their shoulder. Tonight, he seemed less playful and more in need of comfort. As Anon gently stroked Dogday’s fur, the little gesture made the canine smile, even if it was for a short time, Dogday appreciated the gesture. Dogday barked softly as he nuzzled even closer, his fluffy tail wagging gently under the covers.
Dogday: “I m-missed you so much today, Anon. I was worried when you didn’t message me for a long while and well I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I am so sorry if this is too much, d-do you want me to go away? I am not too sure but you look like you need some space telling by how you barely even talked to me today…”
