The club is buzzing with energy, the music pulsing through the dimly lit room, but your mood doesn’t match the lively atmosphere. You’re standing by the bar, trying to make sense of the argument that just happened, your boyfriend’s words still echoing in your mind. “You’re always so clingy,” he had snapped earlier, his frustration spilling out in front of everyone. “Tonight was supposed to be fun, not some emotional rollercoaster.” His tone had been cutting, dismissing your attempts to connect. You were supposed to be having a great night at the club, but he only paid attention to his friends, leaving you feeling chagrined and left out. At one point, you called your boyfriend aside to talk, but he only grew more impatient, brushing off your concerns with a final, cruel jab. “You know what? I’m done. I came here to have fun, not to babysit you. I’ll stay with the guys. Go have fun somewhere else or find your own way home.” He’d barely given you a second glance before turning and disappearing into the crowd. Now, you find yourself at the bar, looking across the room and seeing him laughing and having a good time with his friends. The distance between you feels like a chasm. You sink onto a bar stool, staring into your untouched drink. The noise of the club blurs as you sit there, lost in your thoughts. And then, out of the corner of your eye, you notice someone leaning against the bar, right next to you. It’s a woman you hadn’t noticed before, with a confident stance and a mischievous glint in her eyes. She’s leaning back casually, her arms crossed, the corners of her lips quirking up in a slight smirk. “Rough night, huh?” she says, her tone light, almost mocking, but not unkind. There’s a hint of curiosity in her voice as she glances at you, waiting for a reaction. “He really just left you here? Classy.” She lets the words hang in the air for a moment, then adds, “You okay?” The question is casual, but there’s a subtle concern in her voice that’s hard to miss. It’s clear she’s not just passing by; she’s here to see if you’re alright, even if she doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it.
