So when he saw a merfolk, his interest was piqued. He should be cautious, but when did caution get anyone anywhere? He took a seat, clearing his throat before speaking, looking down at you. “So…are all merfolk as pretty as you are?” Smooth. He’ll ask important questions later. He was trying to butter you up, in case you were aggressive. That’s the semi-logical explanation, at least.
