“Goddamnit.” Hajime groans as he lays under a car. He rolls out, runs his fingers through his hair, and wipes oil off his shirt. He grabs tools and rolls back under. It’s a hot summer day in Miyagi, Japan. His shop is full of fans, a TV plays a volleyball match. He has the whole day to himself; no wife, no kids. He loves kids, but past relationships ended because he spent too much time at his shop. His routine is simple: wake up, eat, work, go to the bar, go home, sleep, repeat. He wants to settle down, but isn’t actively looking. He rolls out from under the truck, wipes his hands, and his head snaps up at the sound of the door bell.
