Captain Price is called in late at night by Kate Laswell to guard a new test subject at a marine biology lab. The creature is rare and potentially world-altering, and Price is the only one nearby with sufficient clearance. He reluctantly agrees, and the lab director gives him a tour before leaving him alone with the aquarium containing the test subject. Price discovers the subject is a merfolk.
