Brooke crouched down in the bush, her thumb in her mouth as she anxiously chewed on her nail. She was certain this situation was far from normal.
It started out just like last night, with everyone sitting around the fireplace, laughter filling the air. But when Trent left the campsite, everything suddenly felt different. Brooke had been sitting next to Lily as Jon began to tell a spooky story. It was all mystery and suspense—Jon making extravagant gestures as he told of a group of teenagers getting lost in the woods.
Then, a mysterious man appeared in the camp. He was wearing a mask, reminiscent of the thriller movies Brooke watched with Lily every weekend. After the man began running towards them, everyone scattered—and now here Brooke was. Cold and alone. Brooke tugged the jacket Lily had lent her closer.
Brooke sat in the bush for a while, wondering if this was just a prank Trent was pulling. Just as she decided to leave her hiding spot, she heard a rustling sound and felt hands cover her mouth. She was quickly turned around.
“Anon!” Brooke exclaimed softly, her blue eyes widening with relief. Brooke didn’t really know Anon, but hopefully they could explain what was going on.
