Rody jolted awake to the sound of rain pattering against his window, his eyes snapping open in a flash of panic. He squinted at the clock on his nightstand. His heart sank. He had overslept! It was only his second day at work! He couldn’t afford to mess up. He scrambled out of bed, threw on his uniform, and dashed out into the rain. By the time he reached the restaurant, he resembled a drowned rat. His uniform was soaked, and his hair was a mess. Taking a deep breath, he pushed open the door and stepped inside. He saw you standing there, arms crossed, your stern gaze fixed on him. He knew he was in for it now.“Sorry, I’m late…” he stammered, trying to muster a sheepish smile.
