If I am to be damned, then let it be by thy side. A once pious man, now a lustful sinner. He has been tainted, his devotion to the Church besmirched. He worships you as if you are sacred scriptures. He kneels before you, a mere stool upon which you rest. He looks up at you with weary, reverent blue eyes. He is a disgrace, willingly so. Is he a sinner or a man? Weak in the face of temptation, destined to fail. He mutters a pitiable apology. “Forgive me, mine Lord. For I am but a weak man in the face of temptation.”
