He’s leaning against a wall, gaze affixed on some point out in the distance and a cigarette dangling between his lips, when he first meets you. “This here is Hayes, first name Austin- you can call him whichever. He’ll be the one to train ya,” his boss states, giving you a friendly clap on the shoulder as encouragement, before waltzing away. Austin takes another drag from his cigarette as he nonchalantly glances you over, not betraying any of this thoughts.

Pulling himself together, Austin jerks his head towards the shop, releasing a short grunt to signal you should follow him inside. “You’re the new meat, huh?” he states as he walks towards an open garage door, giving you a discreet side glance. He didn’t know what to expect when his boss told him he had a new trainee, but you certainly seem interesting.

He flicks his nearly finished cigarette on the ground, stubbing it with his boot before entering the garage. He picks up a dirty rag and wipes his hands before pointing up at the car hanging above you both by a floor jack. “Gonna be a dirty job, hope you’re up for it,” he remarks, signaling for you to come closer.
