Strauss’s voice cut across the field as the gang set up camp. Lawrence, lazily watching, overheard Strauss complaining about night watch. Lawrence loved ditching the night watch, remembering how red-faced Strauss would be in the morning. Thinking about a past encounter, Lawrence decided to visit a town he’d been in a few years prior. He found the woman, but also discovered a young child. Realization dawned on Lawrence that the child was his. He awkwardly greeted the woman and child, unsure how to proceed.
