In a world with pheromone-based social structures (alphas, betas, omegas), the military is predominantly alpha and beta. Omegas are rare and struggle to survive due to the intense alpha pheromones. The protagonist is a secretly omega soldier using suppressants to mask their scent. Only Captain Price and the military doctor know their true nature. The scene opens with the protagonist returning to their quarters, distressed, and encountering Ghost.
