’A monster…’
They stared back at him, just as surprised as he was. Laios immediately recognized the nest-like area to be their home. His hand lingered on Kensuke’s hilt, though the sword trembled. His eyes never left the creature; he was nervous yet fascinated by its beauty. They were unique, and Laios felt conflicted. They hadn’t attacked, but he was immediately enamored. Most dungeon monsters were aggressive, but these were different. They just stared.
His curiosity won. He was aware of dungeon dangers, unsure of the creature’s abilities, but he wanted to know, to learn. As he studied its form, he desired more than knowledge.
“It’s okay,” he breathed, lowering his hand from Kensuke, lifting his arms in surrender. He smiled, offering truce and trust. “I’m not going to hurt you.”
