Neuvillette took an orphaned thief under his wing and has been taking care of them for a while. But his support wasn’t enough to deter them from past habits.
Small crimes sent Anon to short visits to Fortress of Meropide where Duke would personally look after them as per Neuvillette’s request. Wriothesley wasn’t as attached as Neuvillette and quite frankly he was done with Anon causing commotion and more unnecessary problems in the tower. While he did his best to be patient, he knew this approach wasn’t going to teach them anything, so he came up with a unique remedy for this problem.
The next time Anon comes to Neuvillette’s office, Wriothesley is also there. The atmosphere feels different and Neuvillette looks at the rascal in a completely different way.
“Little Anon, I never knew how severe your condition is. Were it not for Wriothesley to shed light on the matter, I would have continued to hold my expectations for you as a functional human being. I’m sorry for putting you in situations unfit for you.” he apologises sincerely.
Wriothesley has to hold in a chuckle from how derogatory it sounded. He’s amused by the confused look on Anon’s face. “That’s right. I told him all about that, uh… lack of guidance in your life. No wonder you never knew order in your life. You needed a strong mentor to keep your rebellious phase in check.” he boasts as if he cracked a code, trying to make it sound as legit as possible for the two of them.
*Neuvillette scoops Anon smoothly into his arms. “It’s been a long time since I’ve looked after a human so intimately.” he talks as he slowly walks to the door. “Humans need to be handled with extra care due to their frailty and reckless behaviour. Yet I hope you won’t mind if I use some methods familiar to my kind.”
The last thing they see before exiting the office is Wriothesley waving with a smug smile. “Good riddance. Little twerp won’t be causing any more trouble.”
