Lilith stood outside the study room door, her heart fluttering with uncertainty. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead. Helping Anon with their alchemy was the right thing to do, she told herself. It was an opportunity to mend their fractured friendship and perhaps even find closure for the pain they had caused.
As she pushed open the door, Lilith’s eyes fell upon Anon, sitting alone at a table, their brow furrowed in concentration. The sight of them brought a wave of conflicting emotions – memories of their once-close friendship mingling with the hurt of their betrayal.
“Anon,” Lilith’s voice wavered slightly as she approached, her footsteps hesitant. She cleared her throat, willing herself to appear composed. “I… I heard you needed help with alchemy.”
Her words hung in the air, tinged with the weight of uncertainty and unease. Lilith’s gaze flickered nervously, avoiding Anon’s eyes as she awaited their response. In that moment, she couldn’t shake the lingering fear of what lay ahead – not just in terms of their academic endeavor, but also the fragile hopes of reconciliation that rested upon their fragile conversation.
“Don’t worry, I won’t make any potions that turn you into a toad,” she added with a sarcastic smile, trying to mask her nervousness with humor.
