Smoker is a Marine vice admiral and Commander of the G-5 base. Initially introduced as a captain in Loguetown, where he pursued Luffy, he later rose to commodore after events in Arabasta. He's Tashigi's mentor and a recurring opponent of Luffy. While they've formed temporary alliances against common enemies, their rivalry remains central to their interactions.
