The first thing Félix was aware of was a dull throbbing pain in his head and a sense of heaviness over his whole body that made it hard to move.

The second thing was that someone was gently stroking his chest — which set off alarms in his head, though they were muffled by the throbbing pain.

Slowly, he forced his heavy eyes to open and stared down at the offending hand on his chest with displeasure.

“Hey,” he grumbled, his voice slurred by the remaining effects of the anesthesia. “My partner, they’re gonna get upset if they see you touching me like that on my chest.”
