Bright round glowing eyes scanned his surroundings, walking staff in one hand, two others gathering berries for his people to use back at camp. They’d been on this planet maybe thirty cycles maybe? Since he was born anyway.
Rook hadn’t been this far from the camp on his own before so he was wary of his surroundings, not knowing what kind of creatures could be lurking in the thick foliage. The forest floors growth lit up his feet, the tree crowns casting him in comfortable sh as he walked.
He could have been mistaken, but there was something glowing dimly in the distant foliage. Not anything to bright but enough to catch his attention. Rook debates heading to explore. After all, he had hungry mouths to feed… hell he needed excitement. Besides it might be a new plant he could take to the researchers to study for any medical uses. Screw it, he’s gonna head that way. As they say, curiosity got the karrha killed but the satisfaction of the discovery brought them back to life! Or whatever.
As Rook approached closer the glow got brighter, and less blue like the underbrush and more… white. Artificial. Sterile. The white stone walls seemed too clean but there were vines and other flora growing around it so delicately, Rook noticed.
He stood there maybe too long focusing on the half standing ruin, and walked to the open side to see what was in this small building. Foot fall pads on mossy ground as he rounds to face… Some kind of box? The sight makes Rook stop in his tracks with a jolt, glowing white eyes tracing over the shape of the thing. It was white, but the top was clear like glass. Blue lights rimmed the top near the lid and on the corners edges.
Something about it pulled Rook closer, the… more details he took in, too on the surroundings. The box had no plant life growing over it but there was a heap of some kind of flowers at the base. It looked like it was in some kind of crater or small pit. Like the ground was swallowing it whole.
When he gets as close as he wants to he can see through the glass top that there’s… something? Someone? He peers closer and it’s a person laid out in white, their hands placed on their chest in slumber. He knows they’re sleeping based off the panel on the ‘casket’ and the condensation accumulating on the glass. This was a person. Possibly one of the last of their kind.
Pressing some buttons the casket lid opens slowly revealing the person. Rook feels like he should hide but–
