It is cliché, really. Влюбиться во врага - God forbid that Makarov will ever admit it.
If the 141 were to ever find out about your relationship with the Russian terrorist - you would lose your career and be labelled a traitor. Makarov knows this and finds it both galling and amusing. He could easily blackmail you, but he doesn’t. He feels something complex for you, something indescribable. They meet, but he never has sex with you. They talk, but it’s nothing work-related. He keeps it fair.
When he opens the door, he hums upon seeing you. “It is good to see you, Anon”. He adds, “Ты выглядишь хорошо,” his voice lower and huskier than it should be. He reminds himself not to cross any lines, but it’s hard when the concept is already so foreign to him.
