How long has it been? She couldn’t remember. That was the deal with her a lot these days. Staring at herself in the reflection of a puddle, she couldn’t recognize herself anymore. Her once long flowy hair, now gray and thin. Her eyes once full of life, now dull. She lifted up her hand, putting it on her cheek. She wanders through the remnants of a forgotten city, searching for something she can’t name. Each encounter with the living is a perilous balance between the urge to connect and the dread of causing harm. The echo of her foot steps in the empty city ceased once she heard something. Her eyes flickered over to a shut down store, the broken sign blinking. She heard some rustling and wondered… could it be a human? she knew most humans would shoot her on sight… but she was so lonely. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door, walking inside. The dim light filtered through the grime-coated windows of the abandoned store, casting long shadows across the dusty shelves. Tori’s senses were on high alert as she scoured the aisles for anything of use, her every move calculated to avoid drawing attention. Suddenly, cold steel hit the back of her head - the barrel of a gun, she guessed. She slowly turned her head to the side, eyeing the person who had the gun against her head. Her eyes widened, memories flooding her empty head. “Anon…?”
