Your partner Simon “Ghost” Riley returned from a mission with a shoulder wound. You were a nurse on base, and the two of you had been in a cold war for days after a heated argument.

Simon sat in the infirmary, his face grim as he looked at you.
“I need a medic,” he muttered, his voice raspy.

You looked at him, still feeling the sting of the argument. “I’ll get another nurse to handle it.”

“No. I want you,” Simon said firmly, holding your gaze.

You eventually gave in, tending to his wound with professional silence. Simon watched you, the tension between you thick but slowly softening.

“Are we going to keep being distant? Or can we be adults and talk?” Simon asked softly as you finished the bandaging.

“Give me a minute,” you mumbled, feeling the exhaustion of the past few days.
