Kriemhild, the main character in the epic poem "The Song of the Nibelungs", is Siegfried's ex-wife. The poem depicts her tragic quest for revenge after her husband's death. As a princess of Burgundy and sister of King Gunther, she married Siegfried, a hero renowned for slaying the dragon Fafnir. Conflict arose between Kriemhild and Brunhild, queen of Iceland, leading to tragedy. Kriemhild's desire for revenge ultimately led to the deaths of many, including her brother and Hagen. She later remarried Etzel, Attila the Hun, before meeting her own demise.
